Buyer FAQ

Questions buyers ask before the first order

Yangjiang Wiliheng Knives Co., Ltd is an OEM/ODM cutlery and kitchenware factory in Yangjiang, Guangdong, making knives, shears, kitchen tools, silicone mats and 304 tableware for importers, distributors and private-label brands. Manufacturing since 2018, with 43 production steps and 40 machines in house (including 20 CNC machining centres); minimum order 500 pcs per model, quote within 24 hours on working days. This page is part of the company's B2B catalogue for importers, distributors and brand owners.

Short, factual answers about MOQ, lead times, steel, private label and shipping — written the way we answer them on the phone. New question added regularly: 39 of 39 published.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

500 pcs per model. That applies to stock models and to OEM/private-label runs. For mixed assortments we look at the total quantity instead of the per-line quantity, and a first order of a single model is completely normal — most of our distributor customers start with one or two models.

How long does production take?

Stock models ship in 20–30 days. OEM / private label with your own logo, handle and packaging takes 30–45 days after the sample is approved. The clock starts when the order and the artwork are confirmed, not when you first write to us.

Can I get samples before placing an order?

Yes. Samples are charged and normally credited against the production order. For private-label work the pre-production sample takes about one week after you approve the artwork, and production only starts once you sign that sample off.

How fast do you quote?

Within 24 hours on working days. Send the models or photo codes and the quantity you have in mind and you get factory pricing together with that model's specification sheet, carton data and packing list — not just a price on its own.

What do you make in house, and what is subcontracted?

Blade blanking, heat treatment (2 annealing and 2 tempering furnaces with Rockwell hardness testing), grinding (water and vertical grinders), CNC machining on 20 CNC centres, finishing and assembly all happen on our own site — 43 recorded process steps, nothing outsourced. That is why we can hold a hardness range per model instead of a vague 'stainless steel' claim.

Which steel do you use?

It depends on the model. Current lines run 5Cr15MoV at 52±2 HRC, 440C at 56±2 HRC and D2 at 58±2 HRC. For an OEM run we can work to your own steel specification within the hardness range the geometry supports; the specification sheet for the models you pick states the steel and hardness we will deliver.

What handle materials can you supply?

Wood (including riveted wooden handles), coloured resin/acrylic and composite handles — the ones you can see in our product photos. Handle material, colour and surface finish are all open for private-label runs; the per-model specification sheet names the handle we would use.

Do you do private label / OEM?

Yes — that is our core business, from 500 pcs per model: your steel, handle material, colour, laser-engraved logo, packaging and barcodes. You approve a pre-production sample before we run the order.

What packaging do you supply?

On current lines: colour box, colour box plus sheath, and colour box plus blister. Gift-boxed sets and retail-ready cartons are available. Carton dimensions, weights and the full packing list are issued with the quotation for the models you select.

How do I place an order or ask for prices?

Pick the designs you want from the product photos — every photo carries a reference code (for example W-4453) — or from the model list, and send us the codes and the quantities. We reply with pricing, specification and packing data for exactly those items.

Where is your factory, and can we visit?

Factory No. 2, Middle Section of Yudong Ninth Road, Yangdong Industrial Park, Yangjiang, Guangdong, China — Yangjiang is the cutlery cluster that supplies a large part of the world's kitchen knives. Buyers are welcome to visit, and we can meet at the Hong Kong or Guangzhou trade fairs.

Do you sell to consumers or single units?

No. We supply importers, distributors, wholesalers and private-label brands only. Orders below the per-model MOQ are not accepted and we do not ship single units — that is what keeps factory-direct pricing possible for our trade customers.

Can I use my own forwarder, and what are the shipping terms?

Yes. We quote FOB and work with your forwarder or ours. The packing list, carton data and shipping marks are confirmed with you before the goods leave the factory, so your customs broker has the documents before the container is loaded.

Where can I see your full range?

The downloadable PDF catalogue has all of our current product photos, each with its reference code, and the product-photo page on this site shows the same photos grouped by family. Quote the codes you like and we send the matching specification and pricing.

Which markets do you serve?

We ship worldwide and work most actively with buyers in the German-speaking market (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and North America, alongside customers in the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. Our buyers are importers, distributors and brand owners rather than retail shops.

Are you a factory or a trading company?

We are the factory: Yangjiang Wiliheng Knives Co., Ltd, in Yangjiang, Guangdong, China, manufacturing since 2018. Cutting, heat treatment, grinding, CNC machining, finishing and assembly are done in our own plant (43 recorded steps, 20 CNC machining centres). There is no trading layer between you and the workshop.

Which knife types can you produce?

Folding and pocket knives, fixed-blade hunting and outdoor knives, kitchen knives, steak knife sets, shears and scissors, and kitchen gadgets (peelers, boards, sharpeners, silicone mats and trivets), plus 304 stainless tableware. If your model is outside these families, send the drawing and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it.

Can you make a model from our own drawing?

Yes. Send the drawing or a physical sample and we will quote after reviewing it. New shapes need tooling, so the quote covers that and the sample timeline starts when the drawing is confirmed. We only quote what we can actually produce in our own plant.

What steel options do you offer?

Current lines run 5Cr15MoV at 52±2 HRC, 440C at 56±2 HRC and D2 at 58±2 HRC. For OEM work we follow the steel you specify; if your target steel is outside what we run, we will say so rather than promise it.

Can you laser-engrave our logo?

Yes. Your logo can be laser-engraved on the blade and, where the material suits it, on the handle. Engraving is part of private-label production, so send the artwork and we will confirm the placement on the pre-production sample before the run starts.

Do you do private label (OEM/ODM)?

Yes — private label is most of what we do. From 500 pcs per model we produce with your steel, handle material and colour, your laser engraving, your packaging and your barcodes. You approve a pre-production sample and production starts after that.

What packaging options are there?

Colour box, box with sleeve, blister, hanging card and gift box, with your artwork and barcodes. Packaging dimensions and carton data are issued with the quotation so your forwarder can plan the load.

Can you print our barcodes and carton marks?

Yes. Barcodes (including your own EAN/UPC numbers) and carton marks are part of the packaging specification. Send the numbers and the shipping marks you need and they are confirmed before production.

How do you quote?

Send the models (or photo reference codes) and the quantity and you get prices within 24 hours on working days, together with the specification sheet and packaging and carton data. We quote FOB; give us your destination port and we will quote that too.

Do you quote FOB or other terms?

We quote FOB. We ship with your forwarder or ours, and the packing list and carton data are confirmed before the goods leave. Tell us the destination port and we will quote against it.

What is the MOQ for a mixed assortment?

MOQ is 500 pcs per model. In a mixed assortment we look at the total quantity rather than the per-line quantity, so a first order can spread across several models. Tell us the model mix and we will confirm what works.

Can we start with a small trial order?

Yes — a first order of a single model at MOQ is normal for us. Many customers start with one model to check the quality and the packing, then add models on the next order.

How long does a sample take?

About one week after you approve the artwork or drawing for a pre-production sample. Stock models can also be sent as-is for you to check the actual production quality. Sample cost is normally credited against the production order.

How long does production take by product family?

Stock models ship in 20–30 days. OEM/private label with your logo, handle and packaging takes 30–45 days after the sample is approved. The clock starts when the order and the artwork are confirmed, not when the enquiry is sent.

How do you control quality?

Blades are cut, heat-treated (two annealing and two tempering furnaces with Rockwell testing), ground, CNC-machined, finished and assembled in our own plant, so quality is controlled at every step instead of only at the end. The pre-production sample you approve is the reference for the run.

Can we visit the factory?

Yes. The factory is at Factory No. 2, Middle Section of Yudong Ninth Road, Yangdong Industrial Park, Yangjiang, Guangdong, China. Tell us the date and we will arrange the visit; a video walkthrough of the workshop is also possible if travelling is not practical.

Can we do a video call before ordering?

Yes. A video call from the workshop is a normal first step for overseas buyers — we can show the production lines for the models you are considering. Contact Will on WhatsApp (+86 181-2488-6695) to set a time.

Do you sell to consumers?

No. We supply importers, distributors, houseware brands and retail chains only — trade supply only. Orders below MOQ for a model are not accepted and we do not ship single units.

Do you have a catalogue with reference codes?

Yes. The photo library shows our current ranges with a permanent reference code on every photo (W-####), so you can quote a model by code. The full catalogue is also available as a PDF from the website.

Where can we download your product catalogue?

The PDF catalogue is on the website (Wiliheng-Product-Catalogue.pdf) and the photo library sits at /b2b/photos/, where every photo carries a permanent W-#### reference code you can use in your enquiry.

What information should we send with an enquiry?

The model or reference codes, the quantity, the steel and handle you want, whether it is private label, the packaging you need and the destination port. With those we can quote within 24 hours on working days instead of trading emails for a week.

Do you export to our country?

We ship worldwide under FOB terms with your forwarder or ours, and we work with importers and distributors across Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Russia and Asia-Pacific. Give us the destination port and we will confirm the shipping details with the quotation.

How do you handle quality problems after delivery?

Claims are handled on the evidence: send photos and the carton or model reference and we investigate against the approved sample. Because the whole process runs in our own plant we can trace a batch back to its production steps rather than guessing.

Why is your MOQ 500 pcs per model?

Because of what it actually costs to set up and check a production run in our own plant: blade cutting, heat treatment, grinding, CNC work, finishing and assembly, plus the pre-production sample and packaging setup. Below that, the per-piece cost and the quality control both suffer, so we do not pretend otherwise.

Still unsure about something? Send the models or photo codes and the quantities — you get the specification sheet, carton data and packing list with the price.
